Bezombes, Roger

France, 1913 – 1994

Roger Bezombes was born in Paris in 1913 and in 1934 he began his studies there, at the École de Beux-Arts. Besides his work in the field of painting, which is characterised by the depiction of the human figure and the saturated colours similar to the ones we find in Henri Matisse’s work, and his work in graphic design and scenography, in 1960 Bezombes began doing research in medals by creating metal objects, many of them similar, from a formal viewpoint, to medals or moulds.
