Krause-Harder, Julia

Germany, 1973

Born in 1973 in Kronberg im Taunus, Krause-Harder lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. Since 2017 she has taught at the Goldstein Akademie, sharing her unique vision with younger generations.

Julia Krause-Harder transforms everyday objects—plastic, metal, wood, toys, even cassette tapes—into complex three-dimensional artefacts. These unlikely materials come together in her hands to form life-sized sculptures that are both anatomically precise and strikingly imaginative. Textiles, too, remain central to her artistic language. Trained originally as a tailor, she dedicated nearly three years to her monumental textile work The Creation of the World, an immersive piece spanning more than 250 square meters.
