Carrondo, Manuel

Portugal, 1969

Since his earliest childhood Manuel Carrondo showed signes of incoherent and unstable behavior. He was confined to a number of psychiatric hospitals where he always showed an aptitude for drawing. He draws spontaneously but lately he refuses to even touch a pencil or paintbrush. To earn some money he now spends his mornings doing errands for his neighbors. He has a great passion for music particularly the piano which he plays perfectly having never learnt.
