Pincas, Nili

Israel, 1942–2021

Born in Tel Aviv in 1942, Nili Pincas began her studies at the Avni Institute of Art and Design, where she focused on drawing and painting, later discovering sculpture at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris. Often in terracotta, her works depict richly detailed, contemplative creatures in soft hues. These are frequently women who appear serene, yet whose posture conveys resolve and power. Recurring themes in her work include the human condition, the divine, the real, and the spiritual. She also drew inspiration from the ancient historical cultures of the Mediterranean.
